TARRAH KRAJNAK

Strays
STRAYS/ Photobook / (2017)

In Strays I return to Lima, Peru, after 30 years, to discover the orphanage where I was born transformed into a modern day hospital by a group of centenarian German nuns still living and working there.

Strays emerged out of a long period of personal reflection on the meaning of origins and the impossibility of return. I've been living with these images for 7 years now and have never exhibited them.  I've re-sequenced them every couple years, re-edited them, made multiple versions of books, and portfolios, and even had a chance to officially publish them. Nothing ever feels right.  This is where the project is now.
